Station 3 – Adjustment

Set the skate, cone holder and rod position so paper reaches a consistent height before moving to Station 4.

Training Video

Watch the complete adjustment procedure before following the detailed steps below.

Overview

Station 3 is responsible for positioning the paper consistently in the cone holder before the cone moves to the next stage of the machine.

The objective of the adjustment is to make sure the paper reaches the same position and height every cycle. Consistent positioning at Station 3 helps ensure that cones arrive at Station 4 at a repeatable height.

The setup consists of two main adjustments:

  1. Positioning the skate and cone holder relative to the shaker.
  2. Setting the rod height so it reaches the correct position without lifting the cone holder excessively.
STEP 1

Adjust the Skate Height

Begin by checking the position of the cone holder relative to the bottom of the assembly.

Loosen the adjustment and locking collar to release the tension and allow the assembly to move vertically.

Raise or lower the assembly carefully until the cone holder is positioned close to the bottom.

Do not raise it too high.

The objective is to establish the correct working height while leaving enough clearance for the mechanism to operate freely.

STEP 2

Center the Assembly on the Shaker

Once the approximate height has been established, check the horizontal alignment.

The cone holder should be centered over the shaker.

Correct centering helps keep the cone and paper aligned as they move through Station 3.

After confirming the alignment, tighten the adjustment to secure the position.

STEP 3

Set the Clearance

Check the gap between the cone holder and the skate.

There should be a very small clearance between the two components. The cone holder should be extremely close to the skate, but it should not rub against it during operation.

The goal is to keep the components close enough for proper positioning while still allowing free movement.

STEP 4

Access Service Mode

The rod adjustment is performed using the HMI.

From the HMI, navigate to: Advanced → I/O Input → Service Mode.

When Service Mode is selected, the HMI displays a warning.

⚠ Important Safety Notice

Service Mode allows individual machine mechanisms to be actuated manually.

Before leaving Service Mode, make sure every mechanism that was manually activated has been returned to its normal position.

If a mechanism remains actuated when the machine is returned to normal operation, it may move unexpectedly when the machine is started.

STEP 5

Lower the Station 3 Rod

Activate Service Mode.

Station 3 is identified on the HMI as the Cone Opener.

Use the corresponding control to lower the mechanism.

With the rod in its lowered position, the mechanical height can now be adjusted.

STEP 6

Adjust the Rod Height

Use the mechanical adjustment to gradually lower the rod.

Watch the cone holder closely while making the adjustment.

Continue lowering the rod until you see the cone holder just begin to lift.

This is the reference point used to determine the rod depth.

Once the cone holder begins to lift, back the adjustment off slightly.

The rod should reach the required position without continuing to push upward on the cone holder.

STEP 7

Lock the Adjustment

Once the rod position is correct, secure the adjustment using the locking latch on the side.

Use the HMI control again to raise the rod back to its normal position.

Before finishing, verify that the mechanical adjustment remains secure and that the rod moves freely.

STEP 8

Exit Service Mode

After the adjustment is complete, confirm that the Station 3 mechanism has returned to its normal position.

Disable Service Mode before returning the PR200 to normal operation.

Final Verification

Before considering Station 3 correctly adjusted, verify that:

  • The cone holder is centered on the shaker.
  • The cone holder sits close to the skate without rubbing against it.
  • The rod reaches the required depth without excessively lifting the cone holder.
  • The rod adjustment is mechanically locked.
  • The rod has been returned to its normal raised position.
  • Service Mode has been disabled.
Final test: Run a controlled cycle and observe Station 3. The paper should be positioned consistently in the cone holder, allowing each cone to continue toward Station 4 at a repeatable height.
